Senior Account Executive
Melanie Slocum is a Senior Account Executive. In this role, Melanie develops communications and messaging, manages outreach and engagement for broad coalitions, and guides social media and digital efforts. Melanie has directed several digital advocacy campaigns, successfully gaining the attention of elected officials ranging from school board members to members of Congress. In her tenure at BCF, she has worked on statewide and local campaigns covering issues such as water, infrastructure, energy, environment, healthcare, and business.
Melanie began as an intern at BCF in 2014, conducting outreach and research for several campaigns and coalitions. Prior to joining BCF, she taught a section of American and California Government and served as a research assistant while attending CSU San Bernardino. Her graduate research has previously garnered the attention of U.S. intelligence agencies.
Melanie holds a Master of Arts in National Security Studies with a concentration in Intelligence from CSU San Bernardino and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from CSU San Marcos with a minor in Writing. Originally from the Inland Empire, Melanie now lives in downtown Sacramento and when she’s not in the office can usually be found indulging in her favorite reality TV shows and catching up on celebrity gossip.
