Melanie Slocum is an Account Executive. In this role, Melanie provides outreach support to legislative issue coalitions and advocacy, assists in communications and messaging development for various digital platforms, and coordinates broad-based third party ally recruitment. Melanie has directed several digital advocacy campaigns, successfully gaining the attention of elected officials ranging from school board members to members of Congress.
Melanie began as an intern at BCF in 2014, conducting outreach and research for several campaigns and coalitions. Prior to joining BCF, she taught a section of American and California Government and served as a research assistant while attending CSU San Bernardino. Her graduate research has previously garnered the attention of U.S. intelligence agencies.
Melanie holds a Master of Arts in National Security Studies with a concentration in Intelligence from CSU San Bernardino and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from CSU San Marcos with a minor in Writing. Originally from the Inland Empire, Melanie now lives in downtown Sacramento and can usually be found at local cafes, practicing amateur photography or indulging in her favorite reality TV shows.
